I used to blog faithfully before I joined FB a couple of years ago. I'm ready to give blogging another go and plan to blog about my art. Since finding the wonderful world of ATCs (artist trading cards) I've discovered art on a smaller scale satisfies my need to create and complete a work of art with out the long term commitment I was giving my previous work. Working on a different card every night keeps me interested in creating and I can finish a card in 1 or two sittings. Painting and drawing on this scale is challenging to me and I need a lot more practice, but I enjoy trying.
Here are some ATCs that I've completed while taking a Goth themed online art workshop. The first card, Goth Girl with Owl, I was working on using a specific color palette. I like browns better than blacks so I guess I have my own feel for Gothic. This card is one of my favorite ATCs I created this year.

With the second card, Gargoyles and Lunas, I made an attempt at collage. I haven't done much collage in the past and I think I'm not terribly fond of working it into my art. Collage was part of the workshop so I gave it try. In the background I used a copy of an image I painted a few months ago. The main figure, colored pencil gargoyle, was also cut out and placed onto the background, as well as scrapbook cardstock just behind her. I could have pushed the collage aspect of the card more, but I just wasn't feeling it. Over all I like it.
